The owner of the lounge Sortie has his bases covered: Eric Macaire, an industry veteran himself (the Bubble Lounge, Jubilee), has partnered with DJ-sommelier Juan Coronado. Together, they're giving midtowners a reason to hang out past the postwork cocktail. Sortie, which means "to go out" in French, serves more than 30 types of imported artisanal beers, signature cocktails like a fruity kumquat martini and a lemongrass mojito and a menu of eclectic tapas. Among the bites: seven types of mussels, tuna with pine nuts and sesame chili, and Black Angus with shaved Parmesan. They don't take reservations, so just show up and choose from outdoor patio seating or lush red banquettes inside. Underground DJs are scheduled for nightly appearances.
