One of the organizations that helped to transform cobblestoned DUMBO into a cultural hotbed, St. Ann's Warehouse is—true to its name—a gargantuan space. The 14,000-square-foot former factory hosts up to 1,200 visitors for interdisciplinary programming ranging from country music to puppetry to avant-garde theater. In December, the stage opens to Noël Coward's Brief Encounter, a play about three couples in a train station tearoom; in the St. Ann's production (December 2 to January 3), live acting is blended with film footage. After sating your metaphysical needs through the artistry and emotional catharsis of the performance, satisfy primal ones in the lobby's Rice Bar, where eggplant maki, rice-flour scones and Korean burritos are served—yes, more blessings from St. Ann.
