Get your green on in Central Park and celebrate National Parks Week NYC with some of today's most passionate and preeminent musicians and performing artists, plus several thousand of your closest friends. Feel Free: A National Parks Celebration in Central Park is a free concert in the Park's East Meadow starring Eric Benet, Peter Coyote, Gavin DeGraw, Jose Feliciano, Carole King, Alison Krauss and Union Station featuring Jerry Douglas and Peter Yarrow, as well as a special performance by Counting Crows and Augustana. In addition to the soothing tunes, clips from acclaimed documentary director Ken Burns's new film The National Parks: America's Best Idea will play throughout the evening. The film traces the entire history of this country's now extensive National Parks System, from the idea's inception over 150 years ago to the present reality, bringing together interviews with the people closest to these sacred lands while the stunning visual images of the parks speak for themselves. Come out and show your love for the National Parks Conservation Association and their tireless effort to preserve this country's breathtaking natural beauty, wildlife and landscapes, which would otherwise be long since extinct. It all starts at 6:30pm on Wednesday, September 23. And don't forget to head to feelfree.org for the full list of the week's exciting events, including a lantern tour of Fort Wadsworth, an evening on Ellis Island and a scavenger hunt in the American Museum of Natural History.
