We know how hard it is to stick to those New Year’s resolutions—you keep putting them off, and before you know it, it’s Thanksgiving again, and those vows to hit the gym or limit your chocolate intake are delayed for yet another year. Why not get on the right track quickly and start the year with a run? Chances are you’ll feel so good that it won’t be hard to keep up the momentum.

NYRR Fred Lebow Classic
Saturday, January 10, 8am
Join the New York Road Runners club for this five-mile run in Central Park in memory of Fred Lebow, a cofounder of the ING New York City Marathon. The race is timed and counts as one of the nine races NYRR members need to finish to guarantee a spot in the 2010 Marathon.

NYRR Half-Marathon Grand Prix Presented by Continental Airlines
Sunday, January 25, 8am
Lace up your running shoes for the City’s first half-marathon of 2009. Held in Central Park, the 13.1-mile race is a challenge and a great warm-up for the ING New York City Marathon on November 1.

Cherry Tree 10M and Three-Person Relay
Sunday, February 22
Celebrate George Washington’s birthday and burn off some of those Valentine’s Day calories with the Cherry Tree 10M and Three-Person Relay in Prospect Park. Run the 10 miles yourself, or split it three ways, with each relay team member running 3.3 miles.
