Angelika Film Center

The seats are notoriously uncomfortable at this SoHo staple—but comfort isn't really the point when it comes to foreign and independent films, is it? Opened in 1989 on a bustling corner where Houston meets Mercer, the theater has since become a chain, with theaters in Houston, Dallas and Plano, Texas. But this is the flagship, and in an effort to support the independent film community, the Angelika also offers a submission form for filmmakers who would like to present their movies to the theater's bookers for consideration.
