Founded in 1964 by NEA Jazz Master Dr. Billy Taylor and arts patron Daphne Arnstein, Jazzmobile's mission is to present, promote, propagate and preserve America’s classical music, jazz, through free live performances and music education programs. Jazzmobile’s performance programs are in all five boroughs of NYC’s neighborhood streets, parks, community and senior centers. NYC festivals include Summerfest, Winterfest and Vocalfest. Since 1968, Jazzmobile has reached more than 200,000 students and teachers from diverse backgrounds, and Jazzmobile's education programs are a model for others around the country. Education initiatives include Free Saturday Jazz Workshops, residencies and symposia.
