The Brooklyn Strategist
A shrine to all things game-related, The Brooklyn Strategist offers players inexpensive access to a wide variety of board, card and strategy games, including Scrabble, Dungeons and Dragons, chess, Warhammer, Settlers of Catan and Risk—as well as many other games that may not yet be household names, like Illuminati and Ravenloft.
The coffee bar/takeaway offshoot of the Southern/soul food spot restaurant Seersucker (located a few storefronts away), Smith Canteen specializes in locally sourced café-style breakfast and lunch foods, like up-market deli sandwiches and quiches, fresh-baked pastries (like a homemade peach pop tart) and coffee from Durham, North Carolina’s Counter Culture.
Court Pastry Shop
Court Pastry Shop has helped generations of Carroll Gardeners satisfy their sweet tooth—they’ve been selling traditional Italian pastries, cakes, pies, cookies and other sweet treats, like cannolis, sfogliatelle, macaroons, rococo, seven-layer cookies and lobster tail, by the pound since first opening in 1948.
NYC Restaurant Week
JAN 22 – FEB 9
This American bistro is best known for its duck meatloaf and buttermilk fried chicken with cheddar waffles but the seasonal menu has its lighter side as well with whole grilled fish, local oysters, and plenty of vegetarian options.
