Neighborhoods:

Woodlawn

With its strong Irish-American roots, Woodlawn could be the best place outside the Emerald Isle to try a traditional, hearty Irish meal. You might wash it down with a Guinness from one of the neighborhood’s many welcoming pubs—if you’re lucky, drinks will come with a live soundtrack of Celtic music. Woodlawn also offers the chance to commune with nature: it borders Van Cortlandt Park, one of the largest in the City, and is home to Woodlawn Cemetery, whose lush greenery surrounds the final resting places of many famous residents.
