Celebrating its 40th edition, the Asian American International Film Festival presents some of the best work by emerging and veteran filmmakers of the Asian diaspora to New York City: some 100 narrative features, shorts, documentaries and music videos at venues throughout the City. Over the years, the festival has hosted the US premieres of movies by such acclaimed filmmakers as Wayne Wang, Mira Nair and Ang Lee. Last year, two LGBTQ-themed films opened and closed the festival: Spa Night, the debut feature from Andrew Ahn set in LA's Koreatown, and Ray Yeung’s Front Cover, which takes place in Beijing's fashion world.
