Following the completion of Aida in 1871, Giuseppe Verdi retired from opera with the exception of special projects at the age of 58. Ultimately his publisher and librettist coaxed him out of retirement, after which Verdi composed Otello (1887) and Falstaff (1893). This exhibit showcases documents and artifacts from Milan's Ricordi Archive alongside set designs, costumes, autograph manuscripts and video excerpts from recent productions.
