After Lou Reed left the Velvet Underground at age 28, he moved home to Long Island and started writing poetry. These lost poems were recently discovered in the archive of his work which now resides at the New York Public Library. Do Angels Need Haircuts? is a book of Reed's poems published this spring that is the focus of this special, free event at the NY Public Library's main branch. Laurie Anderson and Anne Waldman, who wrote the book's foreword and afterword, will be reading poems from the collection.
