As part of Harlem Week, this 11-day celebration of Cuban music, culture and food will take place throughout the famed uptown neighborhood. There will be Cuban entertainers, educators and artists demonstrating the connection between Cuba’s colorful capital and Harlem, long a center for African-American culture. Another festival highlight will be the Harlem/Havana Culinary Initiative—led by chef Marcus Samuelsson, owner of Red Rooster Harlem and Streetbird Rotisserie—where local restaurants will feature Cuban-themed menus and cocktails.
