Photographer Henri Cartier-Bresson’s book The Decisive Moment is considered by many to be a photographer’s bible. The influential 1952 publication highlights his many works of candid street photography, of which Cartier-Bresson was a pioneer. Through this exhibition, the International Center of Photography delves into how this book was constructed, including insight into the collaborations between the photographer, publishers and Henri Matisse (who designed the cover art) along with vintage gelatin silver prints, first-edition publications and other historical documentation.
