This long-running festival of African culture returns to Brooklyn’s Commodore Barry Park for five days of music, dance, spoken word and many other events. Highlights include a tribute to John Coltrane and performances by Muntu Dance Theatre of Chicago, Akae Beka and several other dance and drum ensembles. In addition, there will be a chess tournament, a martial arts demonstration, plenty of food from the African diaspora, a fashion show and an African marketplace, plus a play area and an arts and crafts zone for kids.
