Williamsburg's Nitehawk Cinema hosts a series of screenings in and around International Women's Day on March 8. On that day, they'll have screenings of a series of short sci-fi themed films, The Future Is Female, with all the films directed by women. On March 7, they'll be hosting LASS, another short film compilation celebrating the work of female animators. On the weekend of March 3 and 4, check out the critically acclaimed Oh Lucy, a Japanese film that follows a single woman's travails around Tokyo, which won two Indepedent Spirit Awards in 2017. And, wrapping things up on the weekend of the 10th, they will be screening the Japanese animated film Mary and the Witch's Flower, the story of a young girl who discovers supernatural powers and goes to a school for budding witches.
