Italian visual artist Marinella Senatore is known for her immensely interactive bodies of work—she often involves the entire community in her creative process wherever she is producing. Her work is presented in a number of mediums including video, installation, drawing, performance and sound. Senatore has held solo exhibitions all over Europe, but this will be her first-ever solo show in the United States. As for the name, Piazza Universale (“the universal square”) represents where different communities meet and collaborate, and Social Stages represents a theater or forum through which collective empowerment and social change can arise out of such meetings.
