This performance marks the first time the Miami City Ballet—now celebrating its third decade—has appeared at the Koch Theater. The night’s program will include Balanchine’s astounding Symphony in Three Movements, itself a marvel of dance, as well as choreographic innovator Twyla Tharp’s Sweet Fields, set to the triumphant sounds of 19th-century Shaker hymns. This is the final performance of MCB’s Lincoln Center engagement, but note that the troupe’s residency begins April 13, and will feature Balanchine’s Bourrée Fantasque and Serenade, as well as other breathtaking contemporary works from choreographers Justin Peck, Alexei Ratmansky and Liam Scarlett. Tickets are available on the Lincoln Center website.
