Michelangelo Buonarroti is one of the most famous artists to ever live. During his lifetime, he was known by his contemporaries as Il Divino (“the divine one”) thanks to his incredible talents. The Met will display a range of his works, including roughly 150 drawings, paintings and marble sculptures, plus his wood architectural model for a chapel vault. Many of them are on loan from other institutions and private collections for this landmark exhibition.
