Trace the history of fashion through Paris—known as the epicenter of the industry. This exhibition features 75 fashion ensembles and accessories from the 18th century up to today. The introductory gallery places Paris in a global context as it fought Milan, New York and London for top billing. That’s followed by the main gallery’s first section, which outlines the rise of the Paris fashion system in the late 17th and 18th centuries. The next part focuses on the growth of fashion in the city, particularly feminine fashion and the emergence of haute couture.
