Historian John Reddick helps to illustrate the connection between Harlem’s turn-of-the-century African American composers (like H. T. Burleigh and James Reese Europe) and its Jewish composers (Richard Rodgers and George Gershwin) and how they influenced jazz and popular music. This one-night-only event includes sheet music, recordings and other documents presented by Reddick; the event is free but registration is required.
