Sonic Gates is a series of eight interactive sound sculptures and murals by a team of artists and sculptors led by Volker Goetze along the Bay Street Corridor waterfront in Staten Island. These larger-than-life installations include a 17-foot long wind harp that plays itself and a 90-foot long mural of a Right Whale. Following the ribbon-cutting ceremony at 1pm at St. George Ferry Terminal are various performances and an opening ceremony complete with food and beverages. There's also an evening reception at the ArtSpace at 23 Navy Pier Court from 5-7pm.
