El Museo del Barrio presents The Illusive Eye, an international survey of kinetic and Op arts—which use movement and optical illusion to create specific effects within artwork. This exhibition is dedicated to the 50th anniversary of MoMA’s innovative 1965 exhibition, The Responsive Eye, which neglected to include a number of Latin American artists who were instrumental in the art form in the 1960s. In addition to celebrating MoMA’s exhibition, El Museo’s version will shed further light on these Latin American artists, including Lygia Clark, Frank Stella, Horacio Garcia Rossi, Josef Albers and Karen Hewitt, whose work will be on display.
