Since 2011 the Bronx Children’s Museum has operated out of a purple bus, traveling around the borough showcasing its exhibitions on wheels. But after years of planning and raising money, it finally has a place to call home. Opening in 2018, the 12,800-square-foot space—just steps from Yankee Stadium, in a former powerhouse facility—will take the purple bus’ exhibitions and expand upon them with interactive exhibitions, a learning lab and studio space for artists and community gatherings.
