Three Gowanus locals opened this neighborhood bar, which livens up an otherwise sleepy block on Fourth Avenue. Gary Giddens, who worked at nearby joints High Dive and Commonwealth, is behind the bar program, while Liam O’Brien, of Daily Provisions, heads up the food. O’Brien’s mom, Kelly Hayes, handles the daily operations. The cocktail menu includes playful drinks like the “Never Get a Tattoo Where a Judge Can See It,” which features Famous Grouse, honey syrup, lemon juice and salt. Expect classic snacks like fried pickles and pulled pork alongside the less ubiquitous (outside Hawaii) musubi—fried spam and rice inside a seaweed wrap. There’s also plenty of craft beer on tap and a spacious, string-light-covered back patio.
