NYC - The Official Guide

456 Shanghai Cuisine

Shanghai is most famous for steamed soup dumplings, filled with pork or a pork/crab combo, and the specimens found here do not disappoint. The fried tiny buns with pork are delicious too. So are crispy turnip pastries, the pork shoulder in honey sauce and the braised duck in scallion sauce. 456 Shanghai is popular at lunch with office workers and those on the jury pool, and at night there's often a line out the door. A rave from TheNew York Times really put it on the map, attracting a high number of non-Asians. It's a brightly lit, efficient operation, with low prices considering the skill of the cooking.
