Fans of the thrilling Indian food at Long Island City’s Adda will find similarly spectacular dishes at this no-frills, BYOB spot in Jackson Heights. Chef Amrit Pal Singh, an Adda alum, named it Angel after his young daughter. He crafts paneer from scratch and features vegetarian specialties like crisp fried cauliflower coated in tomato-garlic sauce; creamy, spicy black lentils; crunchy kale pakoda drizzled with tamarind and yogurt sauce; and vegetable biryani sealed by a lid of naan. Portions are generous and prices are low.
