NYC - The Official Guide

Near Bloomingdale's is a sophisticated, intimate New American restaurant with whitewashed brick and marble-topped tables that make it feel like a European café. August was a West Village favorite from 2004 to 2014 and made the move uptown for a more favorable rent. Chef and co-owner Josh Eden has a sure hand with comfort food, adding inventive flourishes like a dash of white chocolate to caramelized cauliflower risotto or walnut "soil" (sweet-tinged, nutty granola) to a lobe of burrata bordered by roasted beets. His Jerusalem artichoke soup with brown butter and sunchoke chips, and roasted organic chicken with black truffle and porcini oil, are other divine creations.
