The New Yorker Hotel is an art deco tower with a secret in the basement: Butcher & Banker, a steakhouse in a former bank vault of Manufacturers Trust Company. A round, armored door swings open to reveal a dining room lined with safe-deposit boxes. There’s another large dining area plus a bar and lounge serving a menu of classic steak cuts, shellfish and vegetable dishes from chef Scott Campbell.
