Greenpoint is increasingly compelling to explore, a mixture of old Polish businesses and novel shops and restaurants elbowing in among new developments. Cassette serves a fusion of Catalan- and French-accented dishes in a 100-seat, contemporary bistro lined with picture windows. Partners Henry Rich and Joe Pasqualetto of Rucola teamed up with Perry Chen, a co-founder of Kickstarter, whose headquarters are around the corner. Though the wine list is mostly French (with some Spanish and other European vintages thrown in), they feature local purveyors when it comes to seasonal produce and earthy, paprika-spiked chorizo from Charlito's Cocina in Long Island City, Queens. The health-oriented menu includes grilled dorade and a number of seasonal vegetable medleys such as roasted acorn squash with preserved mushrooms, basil, aioli and red rice.
