Scott Conant’s celebrity status through cooking (L’Impero, Scarpetta) and as a judge on Chopped draws fans to Fusco. Once they’re there, they enjoy his stromboli stuffed with salami and smoked mozzarella and signature pasta al pomodoro. The classy Flatiron District restaurant has a long bar leading to an intimate dining room lit by chandeliers. Fusco is the maiden name of Conant’s Italian grandmother, but the food exceeds home-cooking expectations. Deluxe choices include lobster gnudi, duck agnolotti with foie gras and guinea hen with tender nebrodini mushrooms. There are à la carte and tasting menu options along with a voluminous European wine list.
