At the base of a high-rise is a cinematic, ambitious Japanese restaurant named for Toshiro Mifune, a 20th-century actor revered for his performances in Rashomon and Seven Samurai. The stars of the kitchen are Hiroki Yoshitake and Yuu Shimano, who artistically produce broiled shrimp with caviar, miso cod with parmesan foam and roasted wagyu with wasabi soy sauce. Downstairs is Sushi Amane (reservations essential; 212-986-5300), where chef Shion Uino forms spectacular omakase behind an eight-seat counter.
