The appeal here is easy to understand: the restaurant serves enormous bowls of flavorful Asian food for relatively little cost—two can actually get full for $20. Pho 32 & Shabu's black tables and booths are mostly filled with cute patrons basked in a scrim of steam from cooking shabu-shabu on the tabletop induction heaters. It's one of Japan's most popular dishes, and it's fun to sizzle the meat and vegetables to your liking. The kitchen does the work on shrimp-filled summer rolls, fried egg rolls and a tasty bowl of rice with chicken, onions, fried egg and sesame seeds. Big squeeze bottles of sriracha and hoisin sauce are provided if you want more heat or sweetness.
