When Jamaican immigrant David Wisdom came to New York City in 2011, he noticed that authentic Jamaican and Caribbean food—like curry goat and oxtail platters, coconut rice and peas, or brown stew chicken—was typically only available in neighborhoods that already had heavy Jamaican populations. Wisdom opened ReCaFo to give non-Caribbean folks a taste of hard-to-find island fare, as well as better-known favorites like jerk chicken.
