The Clam

The harvest of the Atlantic seaboard has a firm foothold in the West Village at Pearl Oyster Bar, Mary's Fish Camp and Mermaid Oyster Bar, but there's still a wide enough berth for a place as good as The Clam. Market Table's chef/co-owner Mike Price prepares a robust menu of dishes based on, well, you can imagine. Clam dip, spaghetti with clams, fried belly-clam sandwich and silky clam chowder are superior to what you'd get at any beachside café. The windowed corner spot has white tablecloths, soft lighting and a small, handsome bar where cocktails and craft beer are taken seriously. For those with shellfish allergies, don't worry. Salads, roasted chicken and seasonal sides won't let you feel left out.
