This once desolate block of far west Chelsea is now a culinary powerhouse: Tom Colicchio's Colicchio & Sons and Mario Batali's Del Posto are located side by side with Toro, a Boston import. Co-chefs and owners Ken Oringer and Jamie Bissonnette, partners Doug Jacob and Will Malnati and New World Design Builders (who also designed ABC Kitchen) imaginatively reinvented an old Nabisco factory, keeping the industrial feel while warming up the 120-seat space with reclaimed wood and antique mirrors. Lively groups are here to imbibe wine and cocktails and share tapas like salt cod fritters, crispy patatas bravas with aioli and vessels of paella laden with chorizo and seafood.
