NYC - The Official Guide

Xian Famous Foods (East Village)

This satellite shop from the Flushing, Queens, original focuses on food from China's Shaanxi province. There's no seating—just a counter—and while it doesn't look like much, a strong thumbs-up from The New York Times as well as from Anthony Bourdain on No Reservations means people line up out the door at lunchtime. Study the food photos pasted on the window while cooling your heels, choosing among stewed pork noodles, chang-an spicy soft tofu, lamb treasures soup and stewed pork burger—or perhaps enter the mysterious world of spicy pig pudding (blood) salad with garlic or lamb offal soup.
