The New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) provides a launching pad for the next generation of musicals and their creators to ensure the continued vitality of America's greatest art form. NYMF discovers, nurtures and promotes promising musical theater artists and producers at all stages of development and inspires a diverse audience through vibrant, accessible, powerful new work; examples of previous successful productions include Altar Boyz and the Pulitzer Prize–winning musical Next to Normal. The festival presents 30 new musicals, playing in repertory in six or seven Midtown Manhattan theaters for a three-week period. The festival is usually scheduled for summertime.
