With a unique global footprint encompassing the entire Black diaspora—including people from the Caribbean, Latin America, Africa and South America alongside generations-deep Black Americans—the Black community in NYC boasts its own cultural nuances that enrich the City’s diversity and provide an experience like none other in the world.
It goes beyond ethnic diversity. NYC is the only destination where no matter how you identify as a Black person, you can actively and unapologetically express yourself, explore intersectionality within and around you, and discover new layers of who you are. This video celebrates the Black community in NYC, its energy and its contributions to the City, US and world.
This video is a snapshot of NYC's past and present. Some of the businesses, organizations and events shown are temporarily closed, on pause or running at modified capacity. Until all businesses reopen and events resume, we encourage you to check on their status before your visit—and always #MaskUpNYC.
