It wouldn’t be the Fourth of July in New York City without the annual Macy’s fireworks show, which made its debut in 1976 to commemorate the nation's bicentennial. This year 60,000 shells will launch along the East River in Midtown, synchronized to a patriotic score from the West Point Band and Glee Club. An NYPD helicopter flyover and an FDNY water boat show kick off the grand celebration, with fireworks set to start at approximately 9:25pm.
