Pod 51 Hotel guests wander into Salvation Burger, likely having no idea how lucky they are to be staying in the environs of one of the hottest saloons in the City. This upscale burger bistro comes from chef April Bloomfield and restaurateur Ken Friedman, whose sizzling portfolio includes The Spotted Pig, The Breslin, John Dory Oyster Bar and Salvation Taco. Whole steers are sourced from a farm in upstate New York; meat is butchered and ground fresh for beef patties and hot dogs. The marquee Salvation burger is made from aged steak, grilled over a wood fire and topped with caramelized onions and tangy taleggio cheese. A stellar fried-fish sandwich and a veggie burger seasoned with Indian spices serve as alternatives. The kitchen closes at midnight, but the bar stays open most nights until 2am (and is also open during the midday kitchen break).
