Vic's is the sort of New York City restaurant everyone is always looking for: a place that serves delicious food and high-quality wines in a warm, gracious, urbane yet unfussy room where it's not too loud for conversation. What's more, Vic's is located on an adorable cobblestone street. Married owners Vicki Freeman and Marc Meyer (Cookshop, Hundred Acres) transformed the cozy space they used to call Five Points into a more open environment and hired a new chef, Hillary Sterling, to create a new Mediterranean-New American menu. Charred, thin-crust pizzas, fried eggplant strips showered with Parmigiano Reggiano, divine cacio e pepe pasta, grilled flank steak and roast chicken are all expertly and lovingly prepared. Fans of the late Gino's restaurant, take note of the zebra wallpaper in the bathroom.
