This stadium was constructed as a project of the Works Progress Administration in 1939, during the Great Depression. Today, the 3,000-seat facility is home to a recently renovated running track, tennis courts, baseball diamonds, handball courts, water fountains and restrooms, all open at no cost to the general public.
