Brooklyn Historical Society's celebration of Black History Month begins in January with The Blinding of a Soldier and the Dawn of the Civil Rights Movement on January 30. Subsequent events throughout the month include: Separate: The Story of Plessy v Ferguson (February 19), Beauty, Media, Money, and more (February 25), Black Abolitionists and the Politics of Violence (February 26), and Voices from Obama’s West Wing (February 28). In addition, the museum's long-running exhibit, Brooklyn Abolitionists/In Pursuit of Freedom, remains on view through March 24.
