Don’t be fooled by its epitaph of a title; Sophie Calle’s new installation will be alive for the next 25 years at Green-Wood Cemetery. Calle’s public art project will invite visitors to write down their secrets, placing them into a morbid mailbox above an open grave. Calle will periodically collect the confessions from their grave on Bay Grove Hill and cremate them in a ceremonial bonfire. These secrets will undoubtedly rest easy as they await their fate in scenic Green-Wood, buried amongst famed New Yorkers like “Boss” Tweed, Leonard Bernstein and Jean-Michel Basquiat.
