Drawn exclusively from its own collection, the Whitney is exhibiting more than 200 works of portraiture that illustrate how this art form has changed from the early 1900s to the present day. The exhibition presents work from renowned artists alongside lesser-known ones to show how many different ways an individual can be represented through art—and in turn how we view and observe others.
