New York–based artist Julia Phillips’ first solo museum exhibition includes her signature ceramic sculptures—which are representative of the human body and include casts of orifices and handprints—showcased alongside commissioned projects. Phillips works not only represent the physical functions of the human body, but they also reach into the areas of politics and social commentary as evidenced by how the works are arranged and their titles that double as calls to action.
