The Lounge in the Washington Square Hotel plays host to the kickoff event for The Village Trip, a monthlong celebration of Greenwich Village's unique place in New York City's cultural history. Performers Emilie Conway, Darragh Hennessy and Marcos Varela will present a mix of songs from the 1950s when the Village was home to the burgeoning folk music and cafe scene. There will also be readings from that era by New Yorker contributor Maave Brennan, along with Brennan's biographer Angela Bourke who will provide some historical context about this lively period.
